First Major Championship Win for Penta TP Ball, Second for R9 SuperTri Driver
CARLSBAD, Calif. (August 16, 2010) – For the second consecutive year a member of the TaylorMade Tour Staff captured the year’s most exciting major championship. Last year, Y.E. Yang outdueled the No. 1 player in the world to win the PGA Championship at Hazeltine. This year, Martin Kaymer sunk a clutch, 15-foot par-putt on the 72nd hole to qualify for a three-hole playoff, then went par-birdie-bogey to win by a shot.
Kaymer’s victory was the second in a major championship for the R9 SuperTri driver, following Paula Creamer’s U.S. Women’s Open win last month, and the first in a major championship for the Penta TP ball.
“I was not so calm in the last round to be honest,” Kaymer said. “The last four or five holes I was quite nervous to be honest. But I played solid golf. My short game was very good today. It was important that I could save pars the last few holes.”
“I was never really expecting myself to win here on Sunday. I know that I had a chance, but, you know, majors, they are a little bit different than normal golf tournaments that we play week to week.”

Ideal for Seniors and Women Seeking Increased Distance
Engineered to Launch the Ball High and Long with Remarkable Ease, Burner SuperLaunch Now More Forgiving Than Ever
CARLSBAD, Calif. (August 16, 2010) – The Burner SuperLaunch iron is a super game-improvement iron engineered to effortlessly launch the ball high and long, promoting increased distance. It’s also the most forgiving TaylorMade iron ever, resulting in straighter, longer shots on mis-hits. Burner SuperLaunch irons are a fantastic choice for mid- to high-handicappers, especially those with slower swing speeds, and for women and seniors.
“The overwhelmingly positive results we’ve witnessed at demo days and iron fittings all over the country confirm the performance of the Burner SuperLaunch iron for the types of players for whom it’s targeted,” said Brian Bazzel, TaylorMade’s manager of iron product creation. “The extra-wide multi-functional sole and ultra-low CG enables slower swingers to achieve remarkable distance results. The difference in trajectory alone for our target audience has been remarkable – again and again we’re seeing players launch the ball higher and keeping the ball in the air longer. The Burner SuperLaunch iron is making golf fun again for many, many golfers.”
To make the Burner SuperLaunch even more appealing, TaylorMade is introducing the Burner SuperLaunch Iron and Rescue Set, consisting of six irons and two new SuperLaunch Rescue hybrids. (The complete set of eight Burner SuperLaunch irons is also still available.)
Burner SuperLaunch Rescue Hybrids Replace the 3-iron and 4-iron
In the Burner SuperLaunch Iron and Rescue set, the 3-iron and 4-iron are replaced by a pair of Burner SuperLaunch Rescue hybrids (choice of 3, 4 or 5). Burner SuperLaunch Rescue hybrids boast improved SuperFast technology, a triangular high-MOI clubhead and TaylorMade’s Ultra-Thin Wall Technology. They also incorporate Burner SuperFast Technology to promoting more swing speed, more ball speed and more distance, making them up to 8 yards longer than the Burner 08 Rescue, according to TaylorMade testing. In addition to their distance benefits, Burner SuperLaunch Rescues are also exceptionally forgiving and easy to hit, with a low, precision-placed center of gravity to help generate a high launch angle.
Burner SuperLaunch Irons Specially Engineered to Promote Distance at Slower Swing Speeds
Burner SuperLaunch irons are engineered to deliver tremendous forgiveness from end-to-end (heel to the toe) and top to bottom (topline to leading edge). In fact, it’s the most forgiving, highest-MOI iron that TaylorMade has ever created. That makes it a great iron for high-handicappers. Burner SuperLaunch irons feature a wide, multifunctional sole that’s key to establishing the low and deep CG location that makes every one of these irons so easy to get high in the air. However, each sole is strategically beveled to reduce the degree of interaction with the turf. That means you get the low-deep CG-positioning benefits of a large sole, yet it plays like a much smaller, narrower sole. The substantial topline contributes to the exceptional stability and forgiveness. TaylorMade engineers cambered the topline’s rearward edge to give it a downward slant, resulting in a more dynamic appearance.
Progressive face thickness throughout the set has the thinnest faces in the long-irons for higher COR, faster ball speed and better weight distribution and thicker faces in the short-irons for better feel. Inverted Cone Technology in every Burner SuperLaunch iron helps expand the area of the clubface that delivers fast ball speed to promote more distance on off-center hits.
Of course, the most critical performance benefit of Burner SuperLaunch irons is how easily they launch the ball and how high they launch the ball. Slower swingers will find it a breeze to launch these irons on an extremely high flight and with the spin necessary to keep the ball in the air long enough to achieve significant added carry, and when the ball comes down it will land steeply and softly.
New Groove Design
Burner SuperLaunch irons incorporate a new TaylorMade groove design that conforms to the USGA’s new ruling on grooves, which will be enforced in high-level competition starting in 2010 and in recreational golf starting in 2024.
Set Makeup, Pricing and Availability
Burner SuperLaunch irons and Rescues are offered in four shaft flexes – S, R, M, L. Ladies’ Burner SuperLaunch clubs feature an attractive purple color palette. The standard Burner SuperLaunch Iron and Rescue Set includes 5-iron through pitching wedge and two Rescues (choice of 3, 4, or 5) offered at a street price of $699 with steel shafts in the irons and $799 with graphite shaft in the irons (Burner SuperLaunch Rescues are available in graphite shafts only). An additional Rescue (3, 4, or 5), 3-iron, sand wedge and attack wedge are also offered separately (Rescue street price $139 per club, wedge street price $75 per club). The Burner SuperLaunch Iron and Rescue Set are available at retail now.

TaylorMade Introduces R9 SuperDeep TP
A Pure Player's Driver Descended from the Legendary 300 Tour and R510 TP
CARLSBAD, Calif. (May 19, 2010) – TaylorMade, the No. 1 driver brand in golf, proudly introduces the R9™ SuperDeep TP, a pure player's driver descended from the 300 Tour and R510 TP, both legendary among tour pros and highly skilled players.
The R9 SuperDeep TP driver is engineered to promote a mid launch-angle and low spin-rate for strong swingers who tend to launch the ball too high and with too much spin with other drivers. The ultra-deep clubface (2.55 inches tall) is the deepest of any TaylorMade driver ever, and the head height is equal to the USGA limit (2.8 inches). The head is also more compact from heel to toe than other drivers like R9 SuperTri and Burner® SuperFast. This gives R9 SuperDeep TP a lower MOI which, combined with its forward CG location makes it more workable for players who like to shape their tee shots.
Its combination of Flight Control Technology (FCT) and Movable Weight Technology™ gives you a choice of 448 possible launch condition combinations. R9 SuperDeep TP comes equipped with Aldila's new R.I.P. graphite shaft with Reverse Interlaminar Placement technology, which delivers low torque while promoting increased hoop strength and increased tip stability.
Appearance-wise, R9 SuperDeep features an all-black finish, including the clubface, and includes TaylorMade's famous TP logo on the toe, and comes with an all-black headcover with magnetic closure.
"This driver isn't for everybody," said Tom Olsavsky, TaylorMade senior director of metalwood development. "It was created for the select few who generate a rare combination of high clubhead speed, high clubhead control and high smash factor. If you're that player, this is the driver you've been waiting for."
The R9 SuperDeep TP driver is available in three right-handed lofts (8.5, 9.5, and 10.5) and one left-handed loft (9.5). Three R.I.P. shaft flexes – R (60 grams), S (70 grams), X (70 grams). It includes a TP case with an R9 torque wrench (to adjust the FCT position and remove and install MWT® weights) and eight MWT weights: 1-gram, 4-gram, 6-gram, 8-gram, 10-gram, 12-gram, 14-gram and 16-gram. Availability starts on May 15, 2010 at a street price of $599.

TaylorMade Introduces Burner® SuperFast TP
Sleek Black Finish and Tour Preferred Face Alignment Combined with Burner SuperFast’s Aerodynamic Head
CARLSBAD, Calif. (May 18, 2010) – TaylorMade Golf is launching a TP version of its popular Burner SuperFast driver. Available to tour pros since March, the Burner SuperFast TP has been put in play by Retief Goosen, Y.E. Yang, Rory Sabbatini, Mike Weir, Pat Perez, Jason Day, Fred Funk, Justin Rose and Vaughn Taylor. Yang used it in April to win the Volvo China Open on the European Tour.
"The players who have put Burner SuperFast TP in play have done so mostly because they're getting more ball speed and distance with it," said Keith Sbarbaro, TaylorMade's vice president of tour operations. "The aerodynamics of the head promote more clubhead speed, and the big face and high MOI allow them to go after the ball more. Vaughn Taylor has never been considered a long hitter. A player came to our tour trailer and asked for a Burner SuperFast TP because he couldn't believe how far Vaughn was hitting it past him in a practice round."
The Burner SuperFast TP features a fast, aerodynamic head shape, expansive clubface and slightly open clubface alignment. The inner side of the clubface incorporates TaylorMade's renowned Inverted Cone Technology, which promotes faster ball speed on off-center hits. The Burner SuperFast TP driver also incorporates TaylorMade's proven Dual-Crown technology, which both lowers and pulls back the center of gravity to promote a higher launch angle and less spin. Introduced in the TaylorMade Tour Burner driver two years ago, and also used in the Burner 09, Dual Crown technology is tremendously valuable. The Burner SuperFast TP driver is finished entirely in black, including the sole and clubface, and features a tour-inspired crown graphic and the famous TP logo on the toe.
New Matrix Shaft Configuration Promotes Piercing Ball Flight
Also critical to the Burner SuperFast TP driver's performance are its new Matrix shaft configurations, which promote a piercing, Tour-like ball flight and a stable feel. The Matrix HD6 (65 grams) shaft is in the S and X flexes, while the Matrix XCON 5 (54 grams) is the standard R-flex shaft. At 46.0" in length, Burner SuperFast automatically promotes a wide swing arc to promote increased clubhead speed. Available in three right-handed lofts (8.5, 9.5, 10.5) and one left-handed (9.5). Availability begins on May 15, 2010 at a street price of $299.

The TaylorMade-adidas Golf Company's top PGA TOUR Professionals visited Reynolds Plantation this week to film commercials and take photographs for their 2010 advertising campaigns.
Pros such as Sean O'Hair, Sergio Garcia, Justin Rose, Mike Weir, Retief Goosen, Kenny Perry and Paula Creamer, were filmed at Bob Cupp's Plantation Course and at Tom Fazio's National Course during the three-day shoot.
A few lucky Reynolds Plantation residents were even "ambushed" by one of Reynolds Plantation's newest members, Sean O'Hair, who was enjoying a short break from the filming. They played a hole with the three-time TOUR winner, as O'Hair showed off TaylorMade's new golf ball, called the Penta.
"Access to 117 distinctive holes of golf surrounded by incredible natural beauty makes Reynolds Plantation the ideal setting to shoot our commercials," says Robin English of TaylorMade-adidas Golf. "Very few places in the world offer such variety of golf all in one location and we are thrilled to have such a stunning backdrop for our advertising."
"We have been honored to host TaylorMade-adidas at Reynolds Plantation to film its advertising on four different occasions," says Bob Mauragas, vice president of golf operations. "It is a pleasure to be associated with a brand like TaylorMade-adidas that seeks the highest quality, continuously strives for innovation and shares our passion for excellence."
While on-site for the filming, the pros stayed at The Ritz-Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation.
"The combination of world class golf and lodging just over an hour from Atlanta makes this a convenient location to assemble following THE TOUR Championship at East Lake," says English. "Although a shoot of this size requires a great deal of work, the pros and crew still find time to enjoy all that Reynolds Plantation has to offer."
The relationship between TaylorMade and Reynolds Plantation was solidified two years ago when TaylorMade opened its first Kingdom away from company headquarters in Carlsbad, Calif. The Kingdom is "where the pros go" to work on their game and to have clubs custom-fit and custom-built to their specifications.
